China’s Huawei Consumer Business Group recently announced that Kirin 990 series, the Industry’s first and only all-in-one flagship 5G Chipset will soon be made available in India. Kirin 990 chipset is first Mobile SoC that consists of 10.3 Billion Transistors, making it super fast and efficient. As per Huawei, Kirin 990 is powered to deliver a fast 5G experience to the smartphone users and its 5G version will also be made available in India with upcoming Huawei smartphones.

Kirin 990 features nm+ EUV manufacturing process and is integrated with a 5G modem, helping it achieve lower power consumption. It also packs a dual-core NPU built upon the Da Vinci architecture that comprises large NPU cores and tiny NPU cores. Also, this chipset is the first full frequency 5G SoC to support both standalone and non-standalone architectures along with TDD/FDD full frequency bands. These large cores are able to achieve high performance and power efficiency in heavy computing scenarios.
The tiny core structure, on the other hand, empowers ultra-low power consumption applications and leverages the intelligent computing power brought by the NPU architecture. In terms of CPU, Kirin 990 packs a three-level power efficiency structure consisting of two ultra-large cores, two large cores, and four small cores. It also makes use of 16-core Mali-G76 GPU and the new system-level Smart Cache for intelligent flow distribution.
For gaming, Kirin 990 supports an upgraded Kirin gaming + 2.0 that helps with efficient collaborations between hardware infrastructure and solutions. In terms of photography, Kirin 990 offers ISP 5.0 that involves block-matching and 3D filtering hardware noise reduction for brighter and sharper images.
