India is on the cusp of an electric vehicle revolution with numerous offerings expected to land in the country this year. One of them was launched today – Revolt Motors RV 400.
The company was started by ex-Micromax CEO Rahul Sharma and his team.
Electric bikes are inherently accompanied with range anxiety. While Revolt hasn’t specifically mentioned the expected range of the RV 400, by the looks of it, it seems to be in the range of 100 km on a full charge. They’ve been rather creative with charging solutions though, starting with a 15A charger that comes with the bike and can be used with a regular plug point. For those who do not have access to a plug point around the parking area, the battery can also be removed and charged separately. They are also setting up battery Swap Stations in multiple locations in various cities. And lastly, you can even order batteries from the app to be delivered at your doorstep.
Talking about the app, it includes features such as remotely starting the engine, trip history, battery health and diagnostics and even change the sound of the engine. Since electric vehicles don’t make a sound, the RV 400 offers a few options to choose from to change the engine rev, and more can be downloaded eventually. The estimated range based on the remaining battery capacity is always shown in the app.
The app also lets you GeoFence the RV 400, if you happen to lend it out to someone. It also functions as a theft protection system where the perimeter can be set to 0, so any movement of the bike will be notified. The EV has its own 4G LTE network too.
I haven’t even showed you 25% of what this bike can do!
