Text messages briefly took center stage during the first part of Donald Trump’s impeachment hearings, and with them have come one of the worst parts of texting: those three little dots that signify “someone is typing.”

On Wednesday, the first two witnesses in the official impeachment probe — American diplomats Bill Taylor and George Kent — testified in public hearings on Capitol Hill.

As the two men began answering questions from the Democrats, several text messages between Taylor, U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, and Kurt Volker, former U.S. Ambassador to NATO, were referenced. For those in the room and the people watching at home, renderings of the text messages were recreated and blown up on a screen.

Lol Dems have the nerve wracking “dot dot dots” in their graphic for the Taylor text they’re asking him about

Several texts shown at the testimony thus far featured those stress-inducing three dots, along with photos of the people involved in the messages, and even blue chat bubble. Twitter users commended the effort to recreate an authentic text exchange, but also found some humor in the dots.

Objectively, the worst and most ominous response to any text message, international scandal-related or not, is: “call me”9,59310:26 PM – Nov 13, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy1,106 people are talking about this

Overall, the text graphics seem to be a hit, and if anything, lightened the mood for exactly one second until we remembered we were watching an impeachment hearing.

Is it just me or does anyone else love Ambassador Taylor reading the text messages? He’s got a classic radio voice. #ImpeachmentHearings #ImpeachmentDay410:40 PM – Nov 13, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacySee Brad (Schenck) Caldana’s other Tweets

The recreations of the text messages so far at the impeachment hearings are great.

Also why were you texting with the Ambassador, @MikeRoyce ?
